Ultimaze is a maze game and editor that allows you to create, solve, print, and export custom 2-d mazes in a wide range of shapes and sizes, from simple mazes to extremely challenging ones. And, using our 1.0 archive, you can share your mazes with the world!

Draw custom maze shapes: With Ultimaze, you can choose the overall maze shape from a list of predefined shapes, or you can customize the shape.

Draw your own maze paths, or generate them automatically: After you specify the overall shape and the starting and ending points, you can draw maze paths through this shape manually or generate them automatically. Or, as in Brian Fuelleman's Train 382 Maze at right (see solution), you can draw some of paths manually and let the computer generate the rest!

Solve mazes using powerful tools: To help you quickly solve mazes onscreen, you can display the paths you have tried (see screenshot), move forward automatically to the next intersection, and return directly to any previous location using the mouse. Ultimaze records the name of the person with the fastest solution time for each maze. Complete solutions to all mazes, if needed, are just a mouse click away.

Share your mazes: Mazes may be saved, printed, and exported to standard PICT files for inclusion in newsletters, educational materials, websites, games, etc. You owe no royalties to Edwards Software for distributing or selling mazes that you create using Ultimaze. Registering your copy of Ultimaze enables you to submit your mazes to our 1.0 archive.

Enhance your mazes: Export your mazes, in PICT format, into programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, Corel Painter, Macromedia Freehand, Microsoft Word, or Quark Xpress in order to add clip art, background textures, text, a story line, and special effects.
